Fall Fashion Lookbook Outfit 3: A Lady's Pearls

This weeks outfit something I was entirely sure was going to work, but ended up loving! It incorporated two of my favourite fashion styles at the moment: detailed collars and flowy cardigans.

I absolutely love the collar on this shirt. When I saw it in Selfridges in London, I immediately snatched it up. I loved the intricate pearls, and I knew that I had nothing like it back home. However, when I got home, I was worried it wouldn't work, because I found it to be a little too tight (I hadn't tried it on in the store). Nevertheless, I was able to pair it with this gorgeous, asymmetrical brown cardigan, and create what I think is a really casual, yet classy look.

My jeans are the same ones that I have worn in the past looks: my standard American Rag blue jeans. My shoes are my navy Toms, and if you read my last 
outfit post, you will know how much I love my comfy Toms!

My jewellery for this look is eclectic. I chose a peach toned gem bracelet that was a gift from my aunt. I believe she purchased it at a rock shop or some sort of healing store, because I think its supposed to bring good luck or something (I'm not entirely sure what its supposed to do, and I honestly think its just a nice bracelet). My other bracelet is what I like to call my "Jesus" bracelet. My mom purchased this for me when we went to the Vatican a few months ago, and the nuns running the store told her that it was blessed by the Pope. I like it because it has a lot of my favourite saints on it, and I feel like its less fragile than if I were to wear a cross around my neck. My ring is from Pandora, and it was a present from another one of my aunts for my confirmation. Obviously, the bracelets are purchased from local areas (so I have no links), and my Pandora ring has been discontinued.

Fall Fashion Lookbook Outfit 2: Mix O’ Prints

Keeping with my trend of comfortable, yet cute, this outfit screams “I got up late, and just threw something on, but it still works.” 

I love that the mix of polka dots and stripes gives a very relaxed, yet pulled together look. The scarf itself is a really nice piece that I’ve had for some time. I love that its “double sided”, one half is white with blue polka dots and the other is blue with white polka dots. It looks really nice when worn (it kinda remind me of if you swirled blueberry and vanilla frozen yogurt together, is that weird?), and its super comfy. The shirt is a really nice knit material, and I love that the sleeves are really baggy and loose.

The jeans are the same as the ones I wore in the previous outfit. To be concise, they are super comfy and fit me incredibly well. The Toms are, well, Toms. I feel like I’m going to say this about EVERY piece I wear in these outfits, but I truly do love my Toms. They are the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever had, (I’ve worn them to theme parks and various cities where my only mode of transportation was walking) because they have little cushions in the soles. Talk about luxurious espadrilles!

I went simple on the accessories for this look, just my tried-and-true Swatch watch. I couldn’t live without a watch, because I live in a constant fear of being late (I also live my life in intervals of 5 minutes, if that makes any sense). My watch is like my best friend, especially during the school year, so when my Snoopy watch that I had had since I was 11 broke in March, I decided to “upgrade” to this purple, plastic one. I like that I can wear it in the pool and wash my hands with it on without worrying about it breaking. My makeup for this look (and all the others) is quite simple, just (kind of) flawless skin, a taupe colour all over my lid and a neutral, peachy pink lip. My nails are just a basic medium pink colour.

Fall Fashion Lookbook! Outfit 1: Chartreuse Charm

This is the start of my very first lookbook series here on my blog! Fall is my favourite fashion season, because it can still be very warm where I live, but its also a time to break out a lot of great comfortable pieces (hello oversized sweaters and snuggly scarves)! 

The first outfit is something I would wear both to school and a trip to the mall! I love wearing blazers because they add a touch of sophistication to any outfit. This blazer was slightly pricey, but I think that if a piece is versatile (there isn’t anything that won’t look good with a black blazer), its worth spending a little more on.

Blazer: Zara

I wasn’t entirely certain if the scarf was going to work with the sweater, but when I tried the outfit on, I couldn’t believe how well the colours of the flowers on the scarf played of the chartreuse sweater. I don’t believe that bright colours or “springy” patterns should be banished when the days start to get shorter; I actually think the exact opposite! I love wearing brights in the winter because they add a bit of cheer to any outfit!

Sweater: Forever 21, Scarf: Zara

The jeans and shoes round off the entire outfit. These jeans are my new favourites, because they are SO soft and don’t constrict blood flow in my thighs (this a problem I often encounter when trying to find skinny jeans). The shoes are a perfect ending to the outfit. The taupe colour is subdued, so it lets the sweater and scarf shine (while still adding a cute touch with the fabric bow)

Overall, I love this outfit for the versatility it has. The colours and patterns of the clothes can take me from fall, to winter, and right back to spring!

Pick Up: Inglot Goodies

I was in New York this weekend with my cousin Christina and friend Jessica, and when we went to Macy's, the first thing I saw was the Inglot stand! I had heard rave reviews about the Polish makeup brand from different gurus on Youtube and the blog Temptalia. Without hesitation, I picked up 3 eyeshadows and 1 blush in a custom palette (this is known as the Freedom System)

The palette has a magnetized lid and slots for the products. You can stick palettes together because they are magnetized!

From Left: Face Blush 32, Pearl Eyeshadow 452, Pearl 402 & Pearl 418

452 is rich maroon-y, purple-y brown colour (I think its similar to the L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Smoldering Plum, but I haven't swatched it in person). 402 is an extremely metallic, greyish-taupe that is sort of like Tapestry Taupe from Covergirl, but more pigmented and metallic (for the record, I absolutely love Tapestry Taupe). 418 is a beautiful deep emerald green that is going to be a staple in my fall makeup bag (I also think this is similar to the L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Golden Emerald, but again, I haven't swatched it in person).

 The blush is a gorgeous peachy-pink colour, which works really well with my light skin tone. When I first saw it in the store, I thought it looked a lot like Nars' Orgasm (another beauty favourite, but something I don't own due to a)the price and b)the nature of its name- because I don't think my parents would be happy if I brought home a blush called Orgasm). After looking at swatches of the two, I do think they are very similar. The problem I faced when writing this post with this blush is that I threw out the wrapper that had the # of the blush on it. I've done some research, and I figured that by swatches it was 32. Unfortunately, the Inglot website does not show 32, so you would have to go into a store and swatch the blush for yourself.

These products are EXTREMELY pigmented. I wasn’t surprised (because of how much love these products receive from the beauty community) and the colours turned out exactly as I wanted them too.

The texture of products was buttery and smooth, and when I applied 402 to my eyes today, it blended like a dream. I can't wait to try the other eyeshadows and the blush!

Nail of the Day: Butter London Dosh

I’m no nail art professional, but I do like to keep my nails looking nice and polished. Last night, I decided to paint my nails, and thought I would share the outcome with you all!

Dosh is described as “A molten metallic apple-green shot through with gold.” I completely agree with this! Dosh is absolutely stunning, and is nothing like anything I have in my (limited) collection. I love the way the gold shines through the green when the sun hits my nails (I’m a sucker for anything that sparkles)!

My name is Carmen, I’m from Canada, and this right here is my beauty blog! From a young age, beauty and fashion have always been a large part of my life. I pride myself in knowing that I spent many years rummaging through my mom’s makeup bag and putting on fashion shows for my younger brother.

As I’ve gotten older, my taste has become more… refined! I’ve spent countless hours researching makeup brands and immersing myself in fashion magazines. Beauty has become more than just a hobby for me: its a lifestyle. I would be completely content in life if all I did was play with my makeup and put on photo shoots with my friends! However, I know this isn’t a realistic life choice, so I’ve given myself a compromise: this blog.

On this blog, I plan on divulging my somewhat knowledge of the makeup and fashion world to the Internet. My only hope is that someone will stumble across this blog, laugh at my meagre attempts at sounding like I know how to properly apply pigments or what to pair with houndstooth pants, and continue to read my little escape from the outside world.
